The History of the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra
The Burbank Chamber Orchestra was established in 1991 under the direction of Maestro Kerstein, Conductor and Music Coordinator. After its debut in 1992, the public fell in love with the Orchestra for its professional, high-quality performances.
Due to the Orchestra's initial success, the City of Burbank began to fund the non-profit organization. By 1994, world-renown musicians, including violinist Robert Cani and bass baritonist Richard Bernstein, were featured in Orchestra concerts.
In 1998, the Orchestra coordinated with the Walt Disney Special Events Group to feature music from Disney Classics such as 'Beauty and the Beast,' 'The Lion King,' 'The Little Mermaid,' and 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.'
In recognition of the breadth and scope of the music performed by the Burbank Chamber Orchestra, its name was officially changed to the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra in 2001.
